When I ordered this product I didn’t realize this was an audio book. If I realized that I would not have ordered it. Books like a diet book, for me, have to be in paper form so that I can go back and reference it and just to help me understand it better. Listening to a diet book (not the most exciting thing in the world) makes it very hard to understand. I like being able to reread the information.

That being said, this die (as with all diets) depends on how well you follow it and exercise. Most diets are common sense, as is a lot of this information. However, I am sure many people out there will benefit from the Perfect 10 Diet.

There are some solid concepts in the book for dieting and life, But..they are so hidden in infomercial style testimonials that they are eclipsed by such. I would rather have a condensed pamphlet than read through a bunch of rhetoric that seems styled to get me to purchase or believe in a product that I have already purchased. I’m confident enough in myself I don’t need affirmation of just why the purchase was or was not a good idea. Beyond that, many of the ‘new’ ideas in the book are regurgitated ones dressed up in semantics to read differently. The Perfect 10, for example, promotes eating carbohydrates, but encourages you to get most of your carbohydrates from vegetables. There are other diets out there that encouraged the overabundance of vegetable eating, but did not dress it up by pointing out that they were carbohydrates. Finally, I purchased the book because it made sense to me that some fats our ancestors ate were better than the chemically processed fats of today’s society. I liked the idea I did not have to feel deprived to lose weight. It’s definitely a good point that eating fats and proteins of the good variety help you feel satisfied and thus less likely to overeat later in the day. But good luck ferreting out the treasure ideas in the maze of testimonials the book contains.

3 stars doesn’t seem very generous for a well researched and (at least on the surface) different approach to weight loss.

It’s a split review as I want to talk first about the media first, the content second.

For me, listening to a somewhat monotonous narrator on 9 CD’s (yes, that’s Nine Compact Discs) was neither easy, or conducive to helping me lose weight, or even start a weight loss regimen. The first disc waxing on for about half an hour just about how they came to think up the diet, and who was involved – blah, blah

Call me old fashioned, but give me a book every time. I can flick forward and back to relevant chapters, calorie information, nutrition. I can look at charts, look at a health plan calendar and actually see it, not hear someone describe it to me. If you want a book on CD, stick to fiction.

The diet itself, well first impressions are good, I can’t say “wow, it’s the best thing ever” as it’s early days, and referring back to my original point, it’s pretty onerous to keep changing CD’s and trying to find what I’m looking (sorry listening) for.

It’s fairly inexpensive, and probably costs about the same as a bottle of diet pills, and I’m sure from what I have heard so far that it will undoubtedly work for many people. Most weight loss plans grounded in a lot of science are usually successful.

The bottom line however seems to go back to the current thinking (as with all diets) if you put less in your mouth, of the right sort of food, and exercise, you WILL lose weight – there is no magic box to melt the pounds away, this may be a step in the right direction, and if it works for you – great!

As for me, I’ll be sticking to old fashioned books.

I was excited to get this “diet” book because I’m at a point in my life where I need to do SOMETHING. However, in my excitement, I didn’t see that I was ordering an AUDIO version. Hoo boy. I would never have ordered this version if I was paying attention, because I know that with diet books, I am constantly flipping back and forth to find or re-read information…even going back weeks or months later as a reference…which is not exactly easy on a CD. Also, unfortunately, listening to it just about put me to sleep. More than once. So, honestly, I didn’t get very far in the series.

That said, yes I know it’s my fault for ordering the wrong version, so it’s not entirely fair to give a low rating…but such is life. If I end up buying the book version, I will come back and rerate.

If you are ready to throw all you have in your refrigerator, and change your diet and your families diet completely, the Perfect 10 Diet is good for you. All the recommendations and what you are supposed to eat and not to eat, make perfect sense, but not for me. I want to loose wait, but I am not ready yet, to be a Perfect 10.
